The Benefits of Professional Facials
In France there are more salons providing Facials than there are Nail Salons - the complete opposite of the UK! But why are the French so addicted to Facials?
Facials have numerous benefits to skin health and also deep relaxation, we thought we'd let you know what makes our Facials so special and what you can expect from the treatment.
Our most popular facial is the Bespoke Facial and we love it so much because it is completely tailored to you, your skins needs and your desired results. It often means that we use different products at different times of the year and no two treatments are the same. However, our tried and tested method of application stays the same, because we know it works so well for all our clients.
We begin all our facials by asking you to breathe deeply and inhale aromatherapy oils designed to aid relaxation. We believe that by beginning the facial with deep breaths, it immediately helps you to relax and puts you in the perfect state of mind to start the treatment.
We begin by using a steamer on your face, the steam increases circulation which delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the tissue on your face. The steam also helps to loosen cellular cement which is binding the dead skin cells to the surface of your skin, therefore helping us to thoroughly cleanse and exfoliate.
Whilst the steamer is working we double cleanse your skin, using cleansers most appropriate to your skin type. Once your skin is fully cleansed we begin the important task of exfoliation. We have 8 different types of exfoliator, which we'll often mix together for the right combination for you. They include professional strength exfoliating ingredients, such as lactic acid, salicylic acid, retinol & fruit enzymes. Providing a deeper cleanse to remove dead skin cells, bacteria and debris.
Because we’re removing your skin’s surfaces dead skin cells, we’re triggering your bodies automatic response to regenerate new healthier cells.
Because of the exfoliation and extraction, your newest & freshest layer of skin will be at the surface. Paving the way for products to be more readily absorbed by your skin, allowing for maximum hydration.
We will then apply a (non pore blocking) aromatherapy oil and provide a massage of the face, decollatage & shoulders. This massage works to further increase circulation and most importantly aid relaxation! By this point in the facial we expect you to be fully relaxed & breathing slowly.
We will then apply a professional strength mask most appropriate to your skin type, quite often we mix masks together to increase their efficacy. And whilst the mask is being absorbed into the skin we’ll provide a 10 minute hand and arm massage, or if you prefer we can leave you alone.
Our masks and moisturisers are designed to offer anti-aging and antioxidant benefits. For instance, vitamin C, plant extracts and other age-defying antioxidants. When incorporated into a facial, these powerful treatments can boost collagen production, plump the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and brighten your complexion.
Once the mask has fully absorbed into your skin, we use a ‘hot towel’ to cleanse your skin of the remaining mask, before applying a moisturizer with a SPF of 50. Your newest layer of skin will be at it’s most sensitive right after your facial and it’s important that we protect it from the number one cause of ageing & damage, the sun!
In addition to the moisturizer & eye treatments we will apply during your facial, any hydrating products you use within the hours or days immediately following will likely have their efficacy increased. Also be diligent in applying retinoids or dark-spot correctors after your beauty treatment to maximize the products' full impact.
