Contra- Indications 

Some treatments we offer have contra-indications, this is a reason why you might not be suitable to have the treatment. From medical conditions to prescription medication. Please see the treatments below and their contra indications, if you have any please get in touch with us before booking.

DERMAL NEEDLING

​

COLD SORES

If active or in the treatment area, we can perform the facial around cold sores.

​

ANTICOAGULANTS

Clients with unstable blood levels and an abnormal clotting profile cannot have this treatment. Clients taking anticoagulant therapy, such as Warfarin, should have their coagulation status checked. Clients with stable blood levels taking anti-coagulant therapy have an increased potential for bruising, petechiae and redness post-treatment.

ACTIVE ACNE

 A few spots can be avoided, but for clients with severe acne, it is advisable to delay the treatment until the skin is under control.

​

KELOID SCARS

Clients with keloid scars (history of, active or inactive) in treatment area cannot have this treatment. If outside treatment area, the decision should be made based on an assessment from a medical practitioner.

​

SKIN CANCER

Clients with skin cancer (history of, active or inactive) in treatment area, cannot have this treatment. 

​

CANCER

Clients with or with a history of other forms of cancer: if it is active, we advise against having the facial. For clients with a previous incidence of cancer, the treatment decision should be made based on the medical practitioner advice.

​

ALLERGIES

If you have an allergy to local anaesthetics containing lidocaine, LMX4 topical anaesthetic can’t be used.

​

IMMUNOSUPPRESSION

Clients with an impaired immune system due to immunosuppressive disease or medication such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy or high doses of corticosteroids, and uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, should not have the treatment.

​

ROACCUTANE

Clients taking oral prescription retinoids, such as Roaccutane, shouldn’t undergo the treatment until six months after stopping the medication.

​

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

Clients who are planning to become pregnant, pregnant or breast-feeding, should not proceed with the treatment.

​

MEDICATION

Clients taking antibiotics or other medication which may cause UV sensitivity, for example Tetracycline, have an increased hyperpigmentation risk post-treatment. They should be advised of this and given the UV-protection guidelines.

​

BRUISING

Clients on Aspirin or similar medication have increased potential for bruising and petechiae. They should therefore be made aware that this is the case. Supplements that can cause this include Warfarin, Aspirin and Omega-3. Clients taking other medication or dietary supplements which alter platelet function and bleeding times, for example Omega-3, have an increased potential for bruising.
