WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I CHOOSE TO HAVE ANTI-AGEING INJECTABLES OR FILLERS AT THE BOTHY?
-
We offer a ‘no obligations’ consultation with Mr Seamus Phillips, this could be over the phone if more convenient. However, you are more than welcome to book for both your initial consultation & Injectables appointment at the same time.
-
When you arrive for your appointment, Mr Seamus Phillips will discuss what you might want to achieve, in the context of your existing skin type and facial configuration, in order to provide you with a unique and personalised treatment plan
-
If you choose to proceed, the Injectable will be injected directly into the muscles, using an ultra-fine needle (similar size to an acupuncture needle). The injections are virtually painless therefore require no anaesthetic and are completed within a matter of minutes.
-
If you choose to proceed with Fillers, numbing cream will be applied to the area prior to the injection.
-
Once the Anti-Ageing Injection or Filler has taken full effect (this may take up to 14 days), creases, fine lines and wrinkles at the treatment site will appear dramatically reduced, resulting in a tauter, more youthful complexion. Depending on the muscles treated brows may also be lifted.
-
Your initial appointment will be around 30-45minutes.
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT LAST?
You can expect your results to last between 3-4 months, depending on your treatment area. If you have more regular top-ups the effects will last longer and can last between 8-12months.
IS THERE ANY AFTERCARE?
-
Avoid make-up for a couple of hours – applying make-up straight away can cause infections
-
Avoid massaging the area for the rest of the day – wipe your face gently if you have to, and if you feel any lumps please book in for a review
-
Avoid facials for two weeks
-
Avoid saunas/steam rooms/sunbeds/excessive temperatures for two weeks
-
Avoid heavy contact exercise for a few days
YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE ANTI-AGEING INJECTABLES OR FILLERS IF:
-
You are pregnant or breastfeeding
-
You are allergic to any of the constituents of the Injectable
-
You are currently on any medication that will affect, or be affected by, the toxin, such as medication for blood-clotting
-
You have any neuromuscular disorders
-
You are under 18
WHAT ARE THE RISKS AND SIDE EFFECTS?
There are few side effects or risks, but Mr Seamus Phillips will walk you through any potential issues at your appointment. You may experience some redness, swelling, bruising, allergic reaction, headache, pain, eyelid or eyebrow droop or muscle weakness. However, these risks are relatively small and well-tolerated.
I've worked as a Consultant ENT Surgeon, with Aesthetic medicine for over 15 years, in Sydney, London and most recently York.

About Anti-Ageing Injectables & Fillers
at The Bothy

WHY ARE ANTI-AGEING INJECTABLES & FILLERS SO POPULAR?
-
Stellar safety record: Anti-Ageing Injectables, sometimes known as BOTOX™ and fillers, are the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatments in the world & have a stellar safety record when performed by highly trained professionals. BOTOX™ has also been used in mainstream medicine for many years.
-
Quick treatment: Depending on the number of areas treated, injections can be completed in as little as 15 minutes. This is a cosmetic procedure you can do on your lunch hour!
-
No anaesthesia: The treatment uses very tiny needles, and patients experience only a small prick with each injection. No time is spent recovering from anaesthesia. Patients can return to work or other activities immediately after the procedure.
-
Visible results in a few days: Most patients see results within one to 3 days after the injections.
-
Skin that looks younger and smoother: It will relax frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and lines around the eyes (crow’s feet) to give the face a fresher, more youthful appearance.
-
Customizable treatment: Injections can be easily tailored to meet individual cosmetic goals. While some patients are looking for dramatic results, others are interested in achieving a subtler, more natural-looking improvement.
-
Results that are not irreversible: You can try the treatment, have injections one time only for a special occasion, or continue with periodic treatments to maintain your results.
-
The beneficial effects of Anti-Ageing Injectables last approximately 3 to 6 months.

ABOUT OUR SKILLED AESTHETICS PRACTITIONER
Mr Seamus Phillips is a Consultant ENT Surgeon (both Private & NHS based). He has worked as a Surgeon for over 15 years, in Sydney, London and currently in York District Hospital & York Nuffield. Seamus is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and has extensive experience in aesthetic medicine, particularly in aspects such as Rhinoplasty (Nose Enhancements).
He is fully covered with medical indemnity and you can rest assured that you’re in safe hands with such an experienced and highly qualified Consultant administering the Anti-Ageing Injectables.
HOW DO ANTI-AGEING INJECTABLES AND FILLERS WORK?
Anti-ageing Injectables use a purified protein called Botulinum Toxin Type A to reduce facial expression (dynamic) lines. The Toxin (also known as BOTOX™) is a prescription only medication and by law, it can only be prescribed by a qualified Nurse Independent Prescriber or Doctor.
When injected, the toxin causes relaxation of contracted muscles, so that when you tense your face wrinkles don’t appear. However, clients find that it also smooths the wrinkles when they’re resting and has a lifting affect. The effect is reversible over time and your muscle will not be damaged.

Dermal fillers are based on Hyaluronic acid which is a substance that naturally exists in your body. When injected they contour and create volume and revitalise the skin.
